AAVLD Vice President

Jianqiang (JQ) Zhang, PhD, is a professor and virologist at the Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. He currently holds the Lora and Russ Talbot Endowed Professorship in Veterinary Medicine. His work focuses on diagnostics, molecular epidemiology, pathogenesis, and vaccine development for viruses of veterinary importance. He has served as the Virology Editor for the book Diseases of Swine (11th and 12th editions) and as the Virology Session Editor for the Journal of Veterinary Diagnostic Investigation.

Note from Jianqiang:  I have been a member of AAVLD since 2010 and have attended every AAVLD annual meeting since then. From 2019 to 2022, I served as Co-Chair of the AAVLD Virology Committee, and from 2022 to 2025, I served on the AAVLD Executive Board as the Northcentral Representative. Throughout the years, I have greatly enjoyed participating in a wide range of AAVLD activities and have learned a great deal through these experiences. I am deeply grateful for the positive impact AAVLD has had on my professional development.
